Privacy Policy
1. Overview
Identity Intelligence is an iOS application that aggregates and displays news and articles from selected publishers in the identity, biometrics, and secure documents sector. This Privacy Policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and what rights you have.
We are committed to handling your data with care and in accordance with applicable data protection law, including the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2. Data We Collect
2.1 The App
iCloud Sync (CloudKit)
If you are signed in to iCloud on your device, the app uses Apple's CloudKit service to synchronise your settings, reading preferences, bookmarks, and read status across your devices. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is not accessible to us. Apple's privacy policy governs the handling of this data: apple.com/legal/privacy.
No user accounts
The app does not require registration. We do not collect your name, email address, or any other personal information directly within the app.
In-App Advertising (Interest-Based)
The app may display sponsored content or advertisements relevant to the identity, biometrics, and secure documents sector. To determine which advertisements may be relevant to you, the app builds an interest profile based on your selected topics and your interactions within the app (such as articles read and bookmarks saved). This profile is created and stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or to any third party.
Advertisements are distributed to all users of the app. The app evaluates locally — on your device — whether a given advertisement matches your interest profile. No behavioural data leaves your device as part of this process.
Advertising placements may be sold to publishers and industry partners in the identity and secure documents sector. These partners do not receive your personal data or your interest profile.
You may opt out of interest-based advertising at any time in the app's settings. If you opt out, you will either see no advertisements or only non-personalised advertisements.
This advertising model requires your consent under Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. You will be asked for this consent when you first launch the app.
Article links
When you open an article from within the app, the link may be routed through our tracking endpoint at id-intelligence.app/out/ before redirecting you to the publisher's website. This is used solely to count the number of clicks per publisher for internal reporting purposes. The data recorded is:
- Timestamp of the click
- Publisher identifier (e.g. "biometric-update")
- Destination URL of the article
- A one-way hash of your IP address (not the IP address itself)
- Device type information (User Agent string)
This data is not linked to your identity and cannot be used to identify you personally.
2.2 The Website (id-intelligence.app)
